Why do my extensions turn orange/pink?
Sunscreen owes its protective effect to UV filters. Certain UV filters can react with human hair extensions. They can turn pink or orange when they come into contact with them. Super annoying, because of course you want to be able to apply sunscreen to your neck and ears with peace of mind. The photo on the right clearly shows what can happen if you use the wrong UV spray.
Which UV filters are good, and which are 'bad'?
Tests have shown that mineral sunscreens/UV filters are always recommended. Some non-mineral sunscreens are also suitable. This may be a bit confusing, but we have found a trick for this:
Do you want to be sure you have a good product, or do you want to research your favorite brand? You can take a photo of the ingredients list on the back of the product. Send it to ChatGPT and ask the following question:
''Can I wear this sunscreen with my (color) extensions made of 100% human hair without them turning orange or pink? -> (product link or photo)''
Mineral UV Filters have a positive effect:
A mineral filter ensures that there is no discoloration on the hair due to sunscreen. Discoloration due to chlorine will be discussed later in the blog.

Accidental discoloration? No stress!
Fortunately, we've also found something for when things unexpectedly go wrong: Malibu C hard water
How to use:
- Mix the Malibu C powder in a bowl with water. The less water, the more concentrated the product.
- Apply the product to towel-dried hair, and rub the crystals into the hair.
- Leave it on for 5 minutes.
- Rinse thoroughly and then care for your hair as usual.
