Big hair is never out of fashion! Something Bella Hadid, Lily Collins, and of course Ariana Grande (and many more) prove by bringing back the big ponytail from the 60s. This look is a bit harder to achieve with a clip-in set. How do you neatly hide all the clips and ensure you get a beautiful, full ponytail? It's much easier with a clip-in ponytail! Sit back and relax, because in this blog, we'll explain everything step-by-step.
What is a clip-in ponytail?
The Zascha Hair ponytail is a full 100-gram ponytail, 50cm long. This ponytail has a clip with coarse teeth, ensuring the ponytail stays securely in place. The ponytail also features a loose strip of hair for a beautiful finish at the base. You place the ponytail over your own ponytail, making it super easy to attach! The ponytail is suitable for thin to normal hair.

What is the ponytail made of?

Just like our clip-in extensions, the ponytail is made of 100% double-drawn human hair. This means the ponytail is beautifully full from root to tip. Because the ponytail is made of real hair, you can treat it like your own hair. You can straighten it, curl it, wash it, and even dye it darker. The base of the ponytail is finished with high-quality lace and a metal clip with coarse teeth. This provides extra strong hold in your own hair, without damaging it.
The top edge of the ponytail is finished with Velcro. Super handy, so you can adjust the ponytail to different hair thicknesses! We also use a multi-tone coloring, which also ensures a beautiful match with your own hair color, even if it differs slightly from the extensions.
Application
Here we go. You're all set, you've styled the ponytail to your liking, and you're ready to put it in. What you need: the Zascha Hair ponytail (duh), some bobby pins and hair ties (preferably not plastic), and a product to give your hair grip.
Applying it is relatively simple, just like applying clip-ins; you just need to get the hang of it. Whatever your hair type, it's important to ensure you have a good, sturdy ponytail. You can do this in several ways:
1 You can apply foam to your hair and blow-dry it thoroughly. This is a good method if you're making a low ponytail.
2 You can tease the roots of your hair.
3 You can use volumizing powder.
4 You can use multiple hair ties (no more than 3).

It just depends on which method you find comfortable for your hair type. After this, you can style your ponytail to your liking so it beautifully matches the texture of your clip-in ponytail. Once you are completely satisfied with your ponytail, you can start attaching the clip-in.
-Open the ponytail and slide the teeth of the clip between your scalp and the hair tie. Make sure the teeth are fully inserted.
-Then wrap the Velcro tightly around your ponytail.
-Next, wrap the loose strand of hair around your ponytail. You can secure this loose strand well with one or two bobby pins, which you can push/slide under the ponytail.
All you have to do now is check if everything is as desired and, if necessary, finish with some hairspray.
Inspiration
You can wear the ponytail in different ways. High, low, one ponytail, two ponytails, straight, curled, sleek, messy, you name it! We'll give a brief explanation of the most popular ways below.
The low ponytail
The key to this style is having enough grip in your hair to create volume at the roots. This can be achieved with dry shampoo, volumizing powder, and backcombing.
1: Start by backcombing at the crown of your head, in the middle.
2: Work downwards, then create a low ponytail at the nape of your neck. If necessary, gently brush your hair smooth to avoid frizz.
3. Attach the ponytail using the description above.
4. Curl the ponytail and your own hair as desired, including your front bangs/fringe. (This can also be done before attaching the ponytail, whatever you prefer).
5. Spray a little hairspray to keep you shining all day long!
The high ponytail
This beautiful look was created by Sandra Bierens & Chantal van Dalen. Here too, it's important to have created enough grip and hold in your hair, for example, by using mousse.
- Divide your hair into 2 sections, and create a ponytail with the bottom section at the crown of your head.
- Take the top section of your hair, ensure it's tight and smooth at the front, and tie it together with the ponytail you made from the bottom section of your hair. Use a second hair tie for this.
- Attach the ponytail as described above.
- Using a (special) comb or toothbrush, you can style the baby hairs around your face as desired. Use a mild wax or gel for this.
- Style the ponytail and your own hair.
- Then use hairspray to set the style for the rest of the day.

Care
Because the ponytails are of the same quality as our clip-ins, we recommend the same care method for them. In this blog, you'll find many tips, tricks, and a detailed explanation.
