Curling and styling your 100% human hair extensions

Because Zascha Hair extensions are made from 100% human hair, you can treat them just like your own hair. You can wash them (preferably not too often), dye them darker, curl and style them!

In fact, after washing, we even recommend styling the extensions with a heat source. Washing opens the hair cuticles, and a slight wave appears. In this blog, we share all the ins and outs about styling and curling your clip-in extensions. These methods can also be applied to all our products.

What do I need?

For both curling and styling, there are a few things we believe will truly enhance your hair ritual. Namely, the

*A Storage hanger:
With a storage hanger, you can clip the wefts into the hanger and hang them up. This allows you to curl and style the wefts properly without them slipping off.

* A Styling Unit
This allows you to hang the extensions spread out so you can style each strand exactly as desired.

* Dry Oil Mist.
The Dry Oil Mist is a heat protector that also nourishes the hair without weighing it down.

Do you also want to be able to store your hair properly? Then the Velvet Storage bag is also definitely a recommendation! And furthermore?
1: A comb.
2: A brush.
3: Styling products as desired.
4: Heat protectant.
5: Curling or flat iron as desired

Styling your clip-in extensions.

If your extensions have a lot of waves, it's best to style all the wefts one by one before putting them in. Here's a step-by-step explanation of the most common method:
1: Turn on the flat iron to a maximum of 220 degrees Celsius.
2: We only recommend styling your hair when it is dry. When your hair is dry, you can apply heat protectant to the ends.
3: Take a strand of about 3 to 5 cm wide and comb it thoroughly.
4: Place the flat iron at the roots and pull it down in one smooth motion. For an even better effect, you can use a comb.*
5: Repeat until everything is straight.
6: Insert the set or weft, and style your own hair with the set/weft.
7: Style as desired, spray with holding hairspray, and you're all set!

* Hold this comb in front of the flat iron as you go down. Make sure there's a little space between them, otherwise, there's a chance the comb might melt.

We advise against using a steampod, as it involves moisture. This can have a different effect on extensions than on your own hair.

Curling your clip-in 100% human Hair extensions.

There are as many different types of curls as there are people. By using different curling irons, you can create various types of curls.
You can also curl the extensions in 2 ways: when you have them in, and when you use our hanger/styling unit. The most natural result is achieved when you have them in and curl them with your own hair. Below, we explain how:)

Which curling iron do I need?

The larger the diameter of the curling iron, the "wider" your curl. If you want Beach Waves (a curl that is very suitable for 50/60cm extensions), you should use a 32mm curling iron. The thicker the strand of hair, the larger your curl. Good to know, large loose curls can fall out faster.

The curling iron we use most often is the 25mm, with which you can create most types of curls and also style them well, and it stays in place. This iron creates a medium-sized curl.

If you have small curls naturally, you can very well use the 19mm curling iron.

Okay, but how do you get the perfect curl?

And preferably one that stays in for a long time, but also doesn't lose its bounce. That's quite an art! Did you know there are also different types of curls? In this link, Ineke shows her 4 favorite curls.

The first tip for extra hold: Place your extensions in your hair (see blog) and curl them along with your own hair. This way, your own hair will hold the curl longer because it is "supported" by the extensions.

The necessities are the same as for straightening, only now you use a curling iron of your choice:

1: Take a strand of hair as desired (the thicker the strand, the coarser the curl & the easier it falls out).

2: Comb it out well, and make sure to neatly wrap it around the curling iron. Our personal preference is to start at the roots and then "roll" the rest of the hair around the iron. Of course, you can also curl your hair with a curling iron with a clamp. Start in the middle of your strand of hair, roll upwards.

3: Wait 5 to 10 seconds before removing the curl from the iron.

4: Catch the curl in your hand and then secure each curl with a clip or pin on your head to let it cool down rolled up. If your hair holds a curl well, this last step is often not necessary.

And there you have a perfect curl, with bounce that stays put for a long time! Once you've removed all the pins from your set, you can gently comb the curl as desired so it's not too coarse. I hear you thinking, what about hairspray? You can definitely use it! When you spray your hair, make sure to do it at a distance of 15 cm from the weft, this prevents hard spots in the curl.

Do you use a lot of styling tools and want to wash your extensions? Then we recommend the Repairing Structure by Era Tua. This line provides ultimate nourishment and delays split ends for as long as possible.
